Search Wrappers
Search wrappers are a useful tool allowing listings to be placed within relevant categories without the need to apply the listing manually. This is very worthwhile especially if your category structure is relatively large and completely eliminates the need to add the listing to specific categories, the system does it for you.
To use the ‘Search Wrapper’ facility, this must be turned on within each specific category.
T0 add the ‘Search Wrapper’ facility to a category:
1. Select the category you wish to apply the search wrapper i.e. select edit category and choose the specific category.
2. At the top of the page, beneath the main horizontal menu option, select the option ‘Search Wrapper’.
3. A new option screen will appear, set the ‘Use Wrapped Search’ to yes.
4. An additional field called ‘Edit Search Criteria’, will display, click on the ‘Submit Button’. You will be presented with a new screen where you need to identify which listing type you want to display in this category and what criteria you wish to use to filter the listings. For example you may wish to only display listings which have a county field set to Kent. In this situation, you would first select the specific listing type, then select the field type you wish to filter by, in this instance, County.
For standard search criteria:
1. Select the specific item type (listing type), you wish to display, 2nd field down ‘Item Type’, select from the drop down menu options.
2. Once you have chosen the specific ‘Item Type’, scroll to the bottom of the page and select ‘Update Search’.
3. Once you’ve updated the search, the system will display the particular fields (attributes) you wish to use to filter the listings.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a field called ‘Add Attribute’; from the drop down selection box, select the field type you wish to use as a filter, in our example we would select ‘County’, then click on the ‘Update Search’ button.
5. Once you have updated the search, the different options within the particular field (attribute) you have selected will be displayed, use the check box to select which criteria you wish to filter the listing for this particular category; in our example there would be a list of counties and would select ‘Kent’ only, but you can select as many options as you wish.
6. You can filter the listings by more than one set of criteria, to do this use the ‘Add Attribute’ drop down menu at the bottom of the ‘Edit Search’ screen, to add the different field types, click on the ‘Update Search’, button, the list of the different field options will be displayed from which you can make your selection.
